    “Burst” is a track I can almost “dream” with nostalgia as it goes back to my early teenage years.

  4. “Secondhand Daylight”-the second Magazine album-is as complete and satisfying work as Ive ever heard.Lavishly produced,beautifully recorded,it perfectly showcases Devoto’s lyrical wit and waywardness.This album,for me,left Punk Rock for dead.

  5. Song From Under The Floorboards rules. I just read a 1980 review by one Sandy Robertson complaining that the opening line is self-indulgent, self-pity disguised as philosophy, “typical of Devoto”.

    Er no, Sandy – it’s a direct paraphrase of the opening paragraph of Dostoevsky’s Notes From Underground.

  6. Magazine are such a great band…i remember queuing outside Manchester virgin Records to get Secondhand Daylight…what a great album…the bass playing is so aggresively sexual and sinister and Devoto articulated my feelings of being a ghost! particularly love Feed the Enemy and Cut-Out Shapes
